There’s a new face at Mercy Clinic Family Medicine – Monett. Family nurse practitioner Daina Kays has joined the Mercy team.

Kays, an Ozarks native, has been a nurse since 1999. She received her bachelor’s in nursing from Missouri State University, and later received her master’s in nursing, family nurse practitioner, from Cox College.

“I’ve always been fascinated with biology and anatomy,” Kays said. For about a year and a half, she provided services at the Kitchen Clinic in Springfield. “I helped patients with chronic diseases, mental health issues, and more. It was an incredible experience, helping a population that really needed that care.”

Kays also spent a few years at a rural health clinic outside Kansas City. “It was a small clinic where we wore many hats,” she said. “It gave me that variety I was looking for, and what I am excited to bring to Mercy in Monett.”

A member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Kays is also passionate about her community. Aside from meeting new patients, she and her husband love the outdoors.

“We have a boat and love going to Table Rock Lake,” she said. “We’re also big football fans. The Broncos are my team and we’ve done plenty of celebrating recently.

Kays is now working alongside Dr. Ralph Schmitz at Mercy Clinic Family Medicine – Monett, located at 315 E. Cleveland Avenue. To schedule an appointment, or learn more, call 417-235-4334.
