The "Pitch Pit" competition promises $5,000

in start-up cash and business services to the winner.

Big names in the start-up business world are coming to Springfield for the 2016 edition of SPIN66, the region’s premier conference on innovation and entrepreneurship.

Scheduled for April 29, 2016 at the eFactory small business incubator in downtown Springfield, SPIN66 will be bigger and better than ever as it enters its third year. The event is hosted by Mercy Research, and combines inspiring speakers, great networking opportunities, and an investment pitch competition - all in a fun, vibrant atmosphere.

Speakers at this year’s event include Wade Foster, Founder and CEO of Zapier, a Mountain View, California,-based tech company that is making waves in the business software market. The company got its start after a similar event in Columbia, Missouri. Another speaker not to be missed is Liz Bohannon, Founder and CEO of Sseko Designs, a socially-minded fashion and design company from Portland, Oregon, who uses her venture as a platform to empower women in Uganda.

For those looking for the cash needed to move their ideas into reality, SPIN66 will  include a panel discussion on venture funding and the Midwest investment ecosystem, featuring four of Missouri’s top experts in startup capitalization.  That same afternoon, entrepreneurs can compete in the “Pitch Pit” competition as they highlight their new ventures while competing for $5,000 in cash and business services. The event concludes with food and drinks during the SPIN66 happy hour, where attendees can connect with speakers, sponsors, other entrepreneurs and local business leaders.

Tickets are available online at spin66.org. SPIN66 is held at the eFactory, 405 N. Jefferson Ave. in Springfield, Missouri. For more information, contact event organizer Cody Stringer at codystringeratmercyrnd.com.
